Growing up in Augusta, Maine, Dr. Shinners' interest in medicine started with a cancer research project in high school. After studying female endocrinology in college, she decided to become an OB/GYN. Taking after her artist mother, she also studied painting in college, and loves that she can combine her two creative and intellectual passions in the field of obstetrics and gynecology by working with her hands in surgery and by offering sophisticated new therapies to her patients. Dr. Shinners is especially optimistic about all the options available today that "truly change people's quality of life." She wants to continually help her patients find health care solutions and says there are "many amazing new treatments and technologies that can help."
Dr. Shinners lives in Scarborough, Maine, with her husband and two children. She loves spending time with her family - traveling, skiing, playing tennis, and enjoying Maine's lakes and ocean.
