BREAST IMAGING

Breast ultrasounds are offered to patients who have dense breast tissue and/or a strong family history of breast cancer. We also use breast ultrasounds to further evaluate breast concerns including breast lumps and breast pain. Breast ultrasound can also be used as follow-up to diagnostic mammograms to further evaluate an indeterminate area of breast tissue seen on mammography.

Patients who have been told they have dense breasts should follow-up with their physician to determine if further testing is deemed necessary based on age, family history and personal breast cancer risk factors. Breast ultrasounds must be ordered by your provider and/or radiologist.

Coastal Women's Healthcare offers breast ultrasound screenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays when a radiologist is present. Your images will be interpreted by our on-site radiologist and results may be given the day of your appointment. All results will be sent to the ordering provider.
