Preparation

Existing Coastal Women's Healthcare Patients:

GYN Ultrasounds:

A full bladder is recommended if you are under the age of 18 or are not sexually active. Please drink 24 oz. of fluid 1 hour prior to your appointment.

Patients Referred to Coastal Imaging:

Renal, Pelvic and OB (up to 20 weeks gestation) Ultrasounds:

These ultrasounds require a full bladder. Please drink 32oz of water 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment and do not void.

Abdominal Ultrasounds:

You may be asked not to eat or drink anything for 6 hours prior to your test. This will help reduce the amount of air in your digestive system so that your organs can be seen clearly. If you have medication you need to take, you may do so with a few sips of water. If you are diabetic, please bring a snack with you to eat when your ultrasound is complete.
