Certified Nurse Midwives

A Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) is a registered nurse who has completed a post-graduate program in nurse-midwifery and is nationally certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

"Midwife" means "with woman.” Nurse-midwives provide safe, personalized healthcare and understand the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs of women. CNMs provide routine gynecological care and carry on a tradition of assisting women in the safe delivery of babies. Midwives promote wellness in women, babies and families, both as autonomous practitioners and in collaboration with other health care providers. Women are encouraged to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

At Coastal Women’s Healthcare, our physicians and midwives work together to provide compassionate and comprehensive care. Our nurse-midwives can take care of your prenatal and routine women’s health care needs. Services include well-women gynecology – including Pap smear screening, breast exams and menopausal and post-menopausal care – as well as the treatment and management of most gynecological concerns or problems. If you are pregnant or thinking about having a baby, the nurse-midwives offer personalized prenatal care, labor support, and birth and postpartum care.

Our nurse-midwives work collaboratively with OB-GYN physicians. They consult with Coastal physicians when there are problems that may put a pregnant woman at risk. Our nurse-midwives have continuous physician availability for consultation, collaboration, and referral of care.

Coastal Women's Healthcare invites you to enjoy the services nurse-midwifery care provides. Our midwives look forward to serving you and your families.
